Description
Shaw Farm features a large barn dating from the 17th or 18th century, located to the west of the farmhouse. The barn is constructed of coursed rubble and has a pitched stone slate roof with a catslide on the east side. It is aisled and consists of four bays, with one partition wall. Inside, there is one hammer-dressed stone pier that appears to support a king post truss, and another post that supports an eccentric queen post truss, which is braced to the tie beam and aisle plate. To the south of the barn, a cottage and another barn were added in the 18th century or early 19th century. The barn features two 2-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor, although the mullions have been removed, and one 3-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor. Additionally, there is a 6-light stone mullioned window on the first floor at the rear, along with a barn door at the rear that has a semi-circular head.
