Description
Springfield is an early 19th-century house located on Neat Lane in Pilton. The building is constructed of stucco that is scribed to resemble ashlar stone, featuring an eaves band and a hipped slate roof. It has four large ashlar stacks with moulded caps. The house is square in shape and designed as a symmetrical Regency villa, standing two storeys tall. The entrance front has three bays with 12-pane sash windows set in moulded architraves. The central door opening contains a paired three-panelled door with a transom light that has glazing bars. A stone portico supported by paired Tuscan columns features a dentil entablature and a moulded cornice, with a carved female bust positioned above the centre. The left side of the house has two bays that conform to the same style. Inside, the ground floor includes three contemporary fireplaces, some moulded plasterwork, a staircase, doors, and window shutters.
