Description
Wellands is a house dating from 1664, with mid to late 18th century alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a triple Roman tile roof with coped verges and two brick stacks. The house has a 19th century gabled dormer and a cross passage plan with a stair turret at the rear. The garden front is two storeys with an attic and consists of four bays, featuring flush-mounted 12 and 16-pane sash windows, except for a three-light casement window in the second bay. There is a door opening in the second bay with a glazed door. A gabled out-shut is set back to the right but is not of special interest. The gabled stair turret includes two-light wooden mullioned windows. Inside, there is a broad open fireplace with stone jambs and a wooden bressumer.
