Description

The Stuckey Monument is an 18th-century chest tomb located in the churchyard, 6 metres north-north-west of the porch of the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. It is made of Ham stone and features a moulded base with fielded panel pilasters on the flanks, each with a single fielded panel at both ends and on the flanks. The tomb has a shallow hipped top with moulded coving. It commemorates Henrietta Stuckey, who died in 1766 at the age of 5, and her father John, who died in 1771. Some of the panels were recut in the 19th century. The Stuckey family were known as bankers and merchants in Langport.
