Description
The Stuckey Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, 4 metres north-west of the porch of the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of Ham stone. The tomb features a moulded base and panelled pilasters on the sides, with oval plaques at the ends and flanks that display Adam style fan decoration in the corners. The top is a shallow moulded hipped design. This monument commemorates William Stuckey, who died in 184-, and his wife Susanna, who died in 1835. They were members of the prominent Langport banking and mercantile family.
