Description

In the churchyard of the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, there is a medieval stone coffin and lid, likely dating from the early medieval period. The coffin is made from Ham stone and is shaped, having been hewn out of a single block of stone. The lid is plain and shaped to fit the coffin. It is presumed that this coffin was discovered during the excavations of the Abbey in 1873.
