Description
26, 28, and 30 The Parks is a terrace of three houses built around 1830. The exterior features stucco over rubble or brick, with stone coping on a gabled slate roof and ashlar and rendered stacks at the gable ends and party walls. Each house has a double-depth plan with a central stair hall and is two storeys tall, with a semi-basement. They each have a two-window range, with No. 28 featuring a central porch and outer canted bays. The design is completed by canted bay windows that include 5-pane casements with horizontal glazing bars, surrounded by scrolled cast-iron balcony railings. The first-floor French windows open onto the balconies, while the other windows are 6/6-pane sash windows, with 2- and 3-light casements in the basements. Steps with railings lead up to the doorways, with Nos. 26 and 30 having cast-iron railings, and No. 28 featuring a Tuscan porch. The doors are panelled with overlights. The eaves are bracketed, and there are 20th-century flat-roofed dormers with slate-hung and boarded cheeks. A mid-20th-century one-storey extension is located to the right, and No. 30 has a 20th-century conservatory on the left side. This terrace shares a similar design with Nos. 20, 22, and 24, although it is less altered. The interiors have not been inspected.
