Description

Nos. 6, 7, and 8 Buckingham Vale is a terrace of three houses built around 1840. The houses are finished in stucco with limestone dressings and have a roof that is not visible. They are designed in a late-Georgian style with a double-depth plan, each house having three storeys and a basement, arranged in a 2:1:2 window pattern. The group is composed with a recessed center, featuring giant pilasters at the corners and flanking the doorway, along with a frieze, cornice, and a parapet that has raised corner blocks adorned with wreaths. The ground floor is banded.

The outer porches have pilasters that support a cornice and feature jambs leading to semicircular arches, with inner two-panel doors. The middle house has a left-hand doorway that is set back, complete with an overlight and a two-panel door. The windows include 6/6-pane sashes with architraves, and the second-floor windows have 3/6-pane sashes, with console cornices on the ground-floor outer windows. There is a late 19th-century canted bay on the left-hand side. A slate balcony spans the center of the terrace, supported by cast-iron brackets and decorated railings.

Inside No. 6, there is a late 19th-century screen leading to a stair hall, with a side dogleg stair featuring turned balusters. Folding doors connect the main ground-floor rooms, which have modillion cornices, panelled shutters, and six-panel doors. The fireplaces are plain, and there is a late 19th-century rear extension. This terrace is a near matching pair to the neighboring Nos. 9-11.
