Description
A terrace of three houses at 20, 22, and 24 The Parks, Minehead, was built around 1830. The houses are constructed of stucco over rubble or brick, with stone coping to the gable ends of the slate roof, which has bracketed eaves. Ashlar and rendered stacks are positioned at the gable ends and party walls. They are arranged with a double-depth plan, each including a central stairhall. The houses are two storeys high, with a semi-basement level; number 22 features a central porch. The overall design consists of a central two-window range for number 22, flanked by three-window ranges for numbers 20 and 24, with canted bays at each end. These canted bays have two-light casement windows surmounted by trellised cast-iron balcony railings; first-floor French windows open onto the balconies. Most of the first and second floor windows are 6/6-pane sashes, while the basement windows are casements. There are 20th-century flat-roofed dormers, two of which have slate-hung and boarded cheeks to the right-hand side of number 20, and one with boarded cheeks to the left-hand side of number 24. The houses have panelled doors with overlights; number 22 has a Tuscan porch, and number 20 has a single-light window above the entrance door. The terrace shares a similar composition with numbers 26, 28, and 30 on The Parks. The interiors of the houses were not inspected.
