Description
The monument to William Ilett is a chest tomb located 2 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Isle Abbotts. It dates back to 1632, making it the earliest inscription for William Ilett. The tomb is constructed from dressed Ham stone and lias, featuring an oblong shape made up of four long slabs set on a simple moulded plinth. Each face of the chest has a high-quality inscription, and the slab top is chamfered around its lower edge. The entire structure stands on a single lias slab.
