Description
The Old Bakery is a building that dates from the early 19th century and has been converted into a store and garages. It is constructed from local stone that has been cut and squared, with brickwork in stretcher bond featuring headers every fourth course up to the first floor. The roof is covered with clay double Roman tiles and has plain bargeboarded verges, along with a brick chimney stack. The building is two stories high, with one room on each floor and a verandah on the northwest side. The ground floor is open, while the upper floor features a timber casement window. There are two single-storey extensions on the southwest side, one with a mono-pitch roof and the other with a dual-pitch roof. Inside, the building retains a first-floor chute for the floor, along with two elm grain bins, and the ovens with cast iron doors are still in place. This makes it an interesting and fairly complete survival of its type.
