Description
Genges is a cottage dating from the mid-17th century, constructed from local stone that has been cut and squared. It features a Ham stone string course above the door and the main ground floor windows. The roof is thatched and has coped gables with carved kneeler stones, and there is a brick chimney stack at one end. The cottage is two stories high and has four bays. The entrance door, located in the third bay, is boarded and set in a heavy square frame, topped by a small bell-hipped hood added in the 20th century. The first bay has two-light casement windows, while the other bays have three-light windows, all with exposed timber lintels. The upper window in the fourth bay is a three-light plain chamfered mullioned window without a hood. At the rear, there is an outshut that has been modified by a 20th-century flat-roofed addition.
