Description
The Bailiff's House, located about 10 metres east of Orchard Wyndham, is a house with store rooms dating from the 17th century, which was enlarged in the early 19th century. It features rough cast over rubble, a hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves and a soffit board, and a brick stack on the left along with a large rendered stack in the center. The building is set into a hillside and likely has a two-cell plan with a cross passage, extended to the right in the early 19th century. It is two storeys high and has six bays with a mix of window styles, including an early 19th-century three-light leaded casement and four 16-pane sash windows. There are two plank doors at the end bays on the right, and the main entrance is through a plank door located between the first and second bays on the left. The hipped roof extends over a shed on the left return. The rear elevation features a late 17th to early 18th-century leaded cruciform window. The interior was not viewed. The house is primarily listed for its group value with Orchard Wyndham.
