Description

Milepost located on the roadside at National Grid Reference ST 6395 3637. This milepost dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. It has a V-shaped design with a canted top and features raised lettering indicating distances: "SHEPTON MALLET 5; CASTLE CARY 3; WEYMOUTH 43". It is part of the former Shepton Mallet Turnpike Trust.
