Description

This is a milepost located on the roadside at the National Grid Reference ST 6835 3984. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. The milepost has a V-shaped design with a canted top and features raised lettering indicating the distances to Bruton (4 miles), Shepton Mallet (6 miles), and Batcombe (1 mile). It is part of the former Shepton Mallet Turnpike Trust.
