Description
Church Farm House is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century, although it contains some earlier elements. It features a local stone plinth and red-yellow brickwork in English garden wall bond, topped with a hipped plain clay tile roof and brick chimney stacks. The building is two stories high and has three bays, with the main facade oriented at right angles to the road.
The central entrance consists of a four-panel door set in a semi-circular arched recess, which is adorned with a plain fanlight and a white marble surround in the Tuscan order, complete with flat pilasters and a keystoned arch. On the ground floor, there are paired 12-pane sash windows, while the upper floor has single 16-pane sash windows, all featuring stone sills and gauged rubbed red brick flat arches. A band course runs between the two floors.
To the west, there is a stone extension at the rear, which includes chamfered mullioned windows; the lower window is a 20th-century insert, while the upper window may date back to the 17th century.
