Description
Haxton Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-18th century, with a 19th-century extension. It features red and blue bricks arranged in bands, along with flint and chalk chequerwork on the gable. The roof is tiled and has crested ridge tiles. The building is two storeys high and consists of five bays, with an additional two bays added to the left. The central entrance has a six-panelled door, with the top panels being glazed, and is framed by a Tuscan portico and a flat entablature. The windows are twelve-pane sashes with gauged brick lintels, and there are casement windows in the extension. A moulded and dentilled plat band runs along the building. Above the door, there is a sun firemark. The rear wall is made of flint with brick dressings around the windows, and there is a two-storey brick wing on the left with a hipped roof. The rear also features three hipped dormers and a lead-roofed lean-to verandah that has been built in.
