FITTLETON HAXTON (east side) SU 14 NW 9/66 The Green Vine and Dairy Cottage

Three cottages in row, now 2. c1500, 1580-1620, early-mid C18 and C19. Timber framing and brick laced flintwork. Thatched roof. Single storey and attic, but 2 storeys at north end. Central section of 2 bays, framed but totally covered with nailed framing on front. To right, 1 bay mid C18 of laced flint, having an early door and frame opposite stack, with gauged 270mm lintel and simple canopy. Sixteen-pane sashes in earlier opening also with gauged lintel having ogee soffite. Plat band. Gable return of flint- chalk chequerwork on flint footings and later rear lean-to. Centre block has 3 sliding sashes, 2 being flush dormers, and a C20 window. North bay, 2 storey, of 1897, date in brick headers in flintwork. Double roll pantiled roof. C20 door and sliding sash windows and small gable over dormer. Interior: Two centre bays represent a timber framed house with smoke bay on south end, floored c1580-1620 and brick external stack added, to be incorporated in early-mid C18 extension.
