Description
The Manor House is a house dating from the late 17th to early 18th century, originally listed as Fittleton Manor. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings, quoins, and a raised plat band, and has a tiled roof. The main block is symmetrical with a central rear wing. The facade is two storeys high with five bays, featuring a central entrance with a six-panelled door and margin-glazed upper lights, sheltered by a flat, moulded canopy supported by console brackets. The ground floor windows are timber cross windows with gauged brick flat lintels, and the gables have windows to the attics. There are gable stacks and crenellated ridge tiles.
Inside, the house features a central wide hall with a dog-leg staircase. The flanking rooms are panelled, and one has a fireplace. A moulded beam remains in the original kitchen to the right, while the left re-entrant portion was squared out in the 19th century. Beneath the rear offices is an ice-house, mostly external with a brick barrel vault, providing access from the house. Bolection moulded fireplaces are found in the attics.
