Description

Stuckey Farm Hotel is a semi-detached house that was originally a farmhouse and is now a private hotel. The porch is dated 1729, although some parts of the building may be older. It is constructed from local stone rubble with some ashlar dressings and features a thatched roof that has a half-hip on the east side and continues to the west, along with brick chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and five bays, with bay 1 being a later addition. Bay 3 features a stepped-coped gabled porch with a gabletted finial.

Bays 1 and 2 have horizontal-bar casement windows, with 2-light windows above and 3-and 4-light windows below. The porch includes an angled casement above, resembling a recessed oriel, and single-light rectangular-leaded casements on either side of a cambered-arched entrance, which has a lintel inscribed with S/ZS/1729. Inside the porch, there are bench seats and a 20th-century inner door with toplights. The upper window in bay 4 is a 3-light horizontal-bar casement of an earlier design, while bays 4 and 5 have rectangular-leaded casements, with 4-light windows on the ground floor and 3-light windows in the upper part of bay 5, the lower windows featuring timber lintels. There is an extension at the rear of the building.

Wrought-iron railings with alternate hoops and arrowpoints extend from the junction between bays 1 and 2, returning to the right of bay 5, enclosing a small front garden about one metre wide, which enhances the setting of the house. Attached to the west gable is Stuckey's Cottage.
