Description
No 3 (Camelot) and No 4 on Camel Street are a pair of cottages built in the mid-19th century. They are constructed from local stone that is cut and squared, featuring a pecked finish in alternating courses of two colors. The cottages have hipped Welsh slate roofs and a central brick chimney stack. Each house is two stories tall with two bays. Both cottages have four-panel doors on the outside bay, with the door to No 3 adapted for glazing. They are adorned with cast iron openwork porches that have segmental hoods. Each house features 12-pane sash windows, one on each level, although No 3 has had its windows replaced with 20th-century aluminium versions. There is a band course between the floors. These cottages are noted for their group value and the use of polychromy on a minor domestic scale.
