Description

This is an 18th-century house located on Bove Town, originally part of the planned medieval development of Glastonbury and a former route east from the town. It is a single depth, three-bay range fronting onto Bove Town, with a two-storey rear range featuring a hipped roof.

The house has rendered walls with ashlar quoins and slate roofs with raised gable ends and brick end stacks. A further chimneystack is located on the east side of the rear range. Replacement windows of the late 20th or early 21st century feature throughout. The north front has a central doorway with plain surrounds and a flat hood supported on curved brackets; the door is a plain six-panel design. Above are three window openings in plain surrounds. The west elevation has two 20th-century casement windows at first floor and a smaller window to the ground floor. The rear range projects forward on the left side and incorporates a large two-light 20th-century window on the ground floor, with a matching window above. A smaller window sits to the right of this. A single-storey conservatory built against the rear wall of the front range, to the right, is not of special architectural interest. The interior remains uninspected.

The building is designated at Grade II for its status as a good example of a modest, architecturally appealing house of the period, its strong group value with other listed buildings along Bove Town, and its contribution to the character and historical development of the area.
