Description
This is a field barn located at Glastonbury Wick, dating from around 1840. It is built from Flemish bond red brick with limestone ashlar dressings and features a gabled pantile roof. The barn has a two-unit plan and is designed in the Gothick style. It stands two storeys high and has a two-window range. The left side includes a pointed arched doorway and a two-light Y-tracery window for the cowhouse, while the right side has panelled double doors set within an arched four-centred architrave with raised imposts. The first floor has similar windows. Stone steps lead up to a loft door in the right gable end, and there is an oval pitching eye in a stone architrave on the left gable end. Inside, the barn features unchamfered beams. This barn is an unusual example of a Gothick-style farm building in the 'ferme ornee' tradition.
