Description

Tudor Court Farmhouse is a manor house that was later converted into a farmhouse and is now a house. It dates from the 16th century, with alterations in the 17th century and significant external changes made in the late 20th century. The building is rendered and roughcast, featuring exposed lias quoins and a pantiled roof divided into two sections of different heights, with brick stacks. It has an L-shaped plan and is two storeys tall with an attic, comprising one bay on one side and two bays on the other. The windows are three-light casements in a vernacular style from the 20th century, with 20th-century cills. There is a gabled dormer in the attic that also has a similar casement. The central porch is gabled and made of lias, with a pantiled roof and a segmental-headed outer door opening, leading to a broad ribbed and studded inner door. The returns of the porch are designed in a matching style.

Inside, the ground floor features two framed ceilings with nine panels, and there is a timber-framed screen with two doorways that have a depressed four-centred shape. The interior also boasts an exceptional amount of painted plaster from the late 16th and early 17th centuries, which includes trailing floral decorations, texts, and scenes, notably including the Prodigal Son.
