Description

The War Memorial at the Church of St Nicholas in Kittisford is a First World War memorial, erected in 1920. It is made of granite and features a rough-hewn Latin cross set on a three-stepped base. The front face of the upper step has the inscription "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND / IN HONOURED MEMORY OF / THE MEN FROM THIS PARISH / WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR." The middle step is inscribed with "1914-1919. / (NAMES)." The lower step bears a weathered inscription that reads, "RIP / WE COMMIT THE KEEPING OF THEIR SOULS / TO HIM AS UNTO A FAITHFUL CREATOR / THIS CROSS WAS ERECTED BY THE RECTOR AND / PARISHIONERS OF KITTISFORD 1920."
