Description
A First World War memorial, dating from 1921; Second World War inscription added.
DESCRIPTION: it is carved from granite and comprises a three-stepped base surmounted by a tapering shaft and a simple, tapered Latin cross. The front (north) face of the upper step carries the inscription in raised lettering: TO THE HONOURED / MEMORY OF THE MEN / OF THIS PARISH WHO / GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR / THEIR COUNTRY 1914-18. The other faces are inscribed: IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO CAME TO THEIR COUNTRY’S AID 1914-1918. The names of the servicemen are recorded on the both the upper and middle steps; those to the front face list the six men who lost their lives. The front face of the lowest step is inscribed: 1939 (NAME) 1945 / RIP.
