Description
Old Cleeve Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse featuring a rendered exterior that mimics ashlar stonework, with prominent quoins and an asbestos slate double-span roof that has overhanging eaves. The building has a parallel range layout and stands two storeys tall with three bays. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, while the ground floor has 16-pane sash windows flanking a single-storey gabled porch topped with a ball finial. Above the depressed arch opening of the porch is a blank panel, and there is a partly glazed 20th-century inner door.
In front of the farmhouse, there are cast iron railings with palmette heads set into a blue lias random rubble wall that has a flat coping returning to the house. The wooden gate posts are inserted, with a single gate designed to match the railings, aligned with the entrance. At the time of the survey in November 1983, the railings were noted to be in poor condition, but they remain an important feature of the farmhouse.
