Description

Little Cleeve is a farmhouse that has been converted into a dwelling. It dates from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and late 20th century. The building features roughcast over rubble and has a slate roof that is hipped to the right, with a stone stack located to the left of the cross passage and at the gable end of the rear wing. The structure is L-shaped, with its gable end facing the road and the rear wing running parallel to the road on a sloping site.

The farmhouse is one and a half storeys high and consists of two bays. The facade has 20th-century casements, with two-light casements flanking a studded plank door. On the right side, there is a 1:2 bay ovolo moulded mullioned window at the centre of the ground floor.

Inside, there are no datable features in the room to the left of the cross passage, which has been extended. The right side has a chamfered lintel over a fireplace set against the rear wall. The rear wing contains chamfered beams with stops. The first floor is accessed at ground floor level due to the sloping site, and features a collar and principal roof that has been raised, along with a lath and plaster partition. It is possible that the original layout was two cells with a cross passage entered from what is now the rear, with an external stack on the left side of the facade, and that the wing running parallel to the road was added later.
