Description
This is a row of three cottages, built in the 17th century and enlarged in the 18th century. They are roughcast over rubble with a thatched roof and feature a large external stack on the left gable end, along with brick chimneys on both the centre and right gable ends.
The layout includes No 31 on the left, which has two cells and a cross passage, along with a pantiled outshot at the rear that has a very tall brick stack rising from the rear wall, with a heated room to the left of the cross passage. No 29 on the right also has two cells and a cross passage, featuring a stair turret at the rear and a pantiled outshot with a stack on the external wall, as well as a slate-roofed bread oven projection.
The cottages are two storeys high and have six bays. On the first floor, the left side has three dormers, including a two-light casement and two three-light leaded casements to the right, with a two-light casement dormer in the centre and two two-light casements below the eaves on the right. The ground floor features all three-light casements and 19th-century plank doors, with the right and centre doors having gabled, tiled porches with timber hung gable ends. The interiors have not been viewed.
