Description
Nos 20 and 21 is a farmhouse that has been converted into two cottages. It dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century and has been extensively altered in the late 20th century. The building is roughcast over rubble with a thatched roof. There is a large rendered external stepped stack on the right side of the facade near the cross passage, and a brick stack on the left gable end. The original plan is not clear, but it may have been a three-cell structure with a cross passage.
The building is one and a half storeys tall, featuring only one small window on the first floor above the entrance to No 20. The ground floor has late 20th-century windows flanking the stepped stack on the right, a 20th-century porch with a 20th-century window on the left, and two late 19th-century two-light casements flanking the porch on the left. The porch has a glazed, tiled roof with a plank door and a half-glazed door on the right.
The right return gable end faces the road and has 20th-century windows, along with remnants of quoin strips and three eyebrow dormers on the rear elevation that overlooks the garden of No 22. The interior was only partially viewed but includes a collar and principal roof. The building is primarily listed for its group value with Nos 19, 22, and 23-24.
