Description
This is an early 19th-century farmhouse, potentially incorporating an earlier structure. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble, with a painted stone rubble rear wing. The roof is covered in asbestos slate and has rendered side stacks topped with paired red clay pots. The original layout was likely a double-depth plan with the main rooms positioned on either side of an entrance located slightly left of centre. A rear wing, added around the early 19th century, returns to create a small back yard.
The front of the house, facing south, has four windows and a symmetrical appearance, although the doorway is offset to the left. It features wooden modillion eaves, a cornice with a key motif frieze, and 4-pane sash windows. The entrance doorway has an early 19th century fielded and flush panel door, protected by a later 19th-century gabled wooden lattice porch with a slate roof. The rear wing has a lean-to roof and features an early 19th century flush and reeded 6-pane door, as well as early 19th-century 12-pane and 16-pane sash windows with slate sills.
The property includes a retaining wall, likely dating back to the 19th century and built of slate rubble. The wall curves at the right-hand end, where dressed slate gate piers are topped with moulded caps. These piers support a later 19th-century cast-iron gate with spear-headed finials. The interior of the farmhouse is not accessible.
