Description

Thatch Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century or early 19th century. It has a roughcast rendered exterior, probably made of stone rubble, and features a thatched roof with gabled ends that connect to adjacent houses. There is a stack at the right-hand end with a rendered shaft that has been heightened in red brick. The original layout was probably a two-room plan with a central entrance; the larger room on the right is heated by a gable end stack, while the smaller room on the left may have been unheated initially.

The cottage is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical south front with two windows. The windows are small, late 19th century or early 20th century two-light casements that have glazing bars and slate sills. The doorway is located to the left of centre and features a divided plank door with a canopy made from a large piece of slate supported by timber cantilevers. The rear elevation has not been inspected.

The property includes a front garden area wall, which is likely from the 19th century and constructed of local slate rubble with a slate capping. The wall is raised at the centre to form piers on either side of the gateway, which has a 20th-century gate. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
