Description

The Thatch, also known as The Thatched Cottage, is a 17th-century cottage that was altered in the 18th century. It is constructed of rubblestone that is colourwashed and rendered, with the south gable featuring rubblestone and brick dressings. The south bay at the rear is made of brick, while the north bay has a ground floor of brick, brick quoin, and a timber-framed half-gable with brick infill. The cottage has a thatched roof that is half hipped to the north and consists of three bays and one and a half storeys. The two left bays contain three-light ground floor windows and two-light eaves dormers. The right bay has a recessed ground floor with modern casements, and the entry is located at the rear. There is a stack situated between the left-hand bays and a blocked window with brick dressings on the south gable. The right gable features a three-light casement in the gable and a single light ground floor casement. Inside, there are chamfered and stopped spine beams, and the centre room has a cut bracket to support the spine beam.
