Description

Brock Cottage is a semi-detached cottage located on Back Lane in Bower Hinton, dating from the 17th century and subsequently modified. The external walls are constructed of ham stone, cut and squared, with ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with double Roman clay tiles, featuring a stepped coped gable to the north and a continuation to the south, with brick chimney stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has two bays. The lower bay has a hollow-chamfered mullioned window with unworked top mitres under a square label. The lower bay 2 has a moulded cambered arched doorway with a deep lintol and square label, now containing a 20th-century boarded door. Above the doorway, there are two 3-light horizontal bar casement windows. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
