Description

Higher Barton is a detached cottage located on Higher Street in Martock, dating from the 17th century. The building is constructed of ham stone, cut and squared, with ashlar dressings and a double Roman clay tile roof with plain gables. It has brick chimney stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. It features hollow-chamfered mullioned windows, mostly with three lights, though the upper bay one and lower bay two have four lights. These windows are plain glazed and incorporate some iron-framed opening lights. To the right of bay one is a 20th-century entrance door set within a plain, chamfered flat-arched opening, covered by a deep lintol without a label. The interior of the cottage was not inspected during the listing process.
