Description
Myrtle Cottage is a semi-detached cottage located on Blind Lane in Bower Hinton, dating from the 18th century. The building is constructed from cut and squared ham stone, with coursed rubble on the sides and rear, and features ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with double Roman clay tiles and has high stepped coped gables, which have replaced the original thatch. There are brick chimney stacks at both ends of the cottage.
The cottage is two storeys high and has two bays. It features hollow-chamfered mullioned windows with unworked top mitres, consisting of three lights with iron-framed centre opening lights that have horizontal bar glazing. Between the bays, there is a recessed doorway with a plain beaded surround, which contains an early 20th-century door. There is a lean-to extension against the west gable and another lean-to at the rear. The interior has not been seen.
