Description

Greenscombe Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which was remodelled in the late 19th century. It is constructed of coursed and uncoursed limestone rubble and features a gable roof covered with Welsh slate, topped with a late 19th-century crested tile ridge. The building has brick stacks at both ends and a brick lateral stack on the rear outshut.

The house has a four-unit plan, with a dairy to the left and a cross passage to the right of the centre, and a continuous rear outshut along with a late 19th-century rear right wing. It stands two storeys high and has a six-window range on the first floor. The front features a segmental stone arch above a late 19th-century panelled door, French windows, and three-light casements. A late 19th-century cast-iron verandah with decorative brackets enhances the entrance.

On the rear elevation, there is a segmental brick arch over a 19th-century five-light casement, along with wide eaves over 19th-century two and three-light casements with leaded lights, and a similar two-light casement on the rear wing. Inside, the late 19th-century features include panelled doors and fireplaces with cast-iron grates. The ground floor retains 17th-century chamfered beams and, to the left, an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressummer and HL hinges on the adjoining plank door. The farmhouse is included for its group value.
