Description
The forecourt wall to Westholme Cottage, located on the roadside, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of dressed stone and sits on a base made of coursed and squared rubble. The upper part features a strap-work parapet with a segmental coping and extends 40 meters along the roadside. In front of the main door opening of Westholme Cottage, the wall projects forward in two sections, which include paired panelled ashlar gate piers topped with moulded caps and pierced "Jacobean" finials. A simple wrought-iron gate with undulating cresting completes the entrance. This wall is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
