Description
Higher Westholme Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with a double Roman tile roof, having coped verges. A single ashlar stack and a single brick stack are also present. The building follows a cross-passage plan.
The garden front has two storeys and five bays. It features 2- and 3-light casement windows with glazing bars, alongside 20th-century French windows to the left of the ground floor and single-light casements on either side. A door opening, originally virtually central, is set within a chamfered 4-centred stone surround, and contains a plank door with strap hinges, as well as a further 20th-century glazed door to the right. The entrance frontage has four 2- and 3-light wooden mullioned windows on the ground floor. There are remains of a stair turret with a slit window.
Inside, the interior features chamfered ceiling beams.
