Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that underwent enlargement in the late 17th century, originally being an earlier dwelling. It was altered in the 19th century and was in very poor condition at the time of the survey in April 1984. The building is constructed of red sandstone random rubble and features a steeply pitched concrete tile roof. It has five bays on the left side with a brick stack on the left gable end, and a right lower cob wing from the earlier dwelling, which has a corrugated iron roof and an external stack on the right gable end, with a buttressed center.
The plan suggests that the building is incomplete, consisting of five bays of an intended seven-bay dwelling. The left side has two cells with a hall containing a T-plan stair, while the kitchen is located on the right side of the earlier dwelling. The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, with a single storey and attic on the right side, featuring a total of five bays. The first floor includes two single-light mullioned and transomed windows on the left and three two-light windows on the right. The ground floor mirrors this arrangement, with a six-panel raised and fielded door at the end bay on the right, which has a moulded door case and a rectangular light above. All ground floor windows are fitted with hood moulds, and there is a two-light mullioned and transomed window in the kitchen.
Inside, the hall features an oval moulded ceiling and a T-plan stair, with rooms on the left that were altered in the 19th century. The kitchen has a large open fireplace with a chamfered wooden lintel and an oven projection.
