Description
The Bell Inn is an 18th-century inn that was altered in the early 19th century. It features roughcast over rubble with a bitumen-covered slate roof and bitumen-covered pantiled roofs on the left-side additions, along with brick stacks. The original layout was likely a two-cell structure with a cross passage, which has been enlarged to a three-cell configuration. The building is two storeys high and has four bays; the first floor has single-hung windows that have been altered internally, while the ground floor has 16-pane sash windows and an additional small 12-pane sash window inserted to the right of a 20th-century plank door with inserted lights between the first and second bays on the left. The interior was altered in the late 20th century. The dwelling was licensed as an inn from 1806 to 1822.
