Description

Monkton Elm is an early 19th-century house constructed from red sandstone random rubble. It features a hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves and a soffit board. There are brick stacks that rise from the eaves on both the left and right sides. The house has a double pile plan and stands two storeys tall with three bays. The windows are 12-pane sash windows with stepped voussoirs. The central entrance consists of a part-glazed panelled door, which has a moulded surround and a detached moulded lintel. It is likely that the house was originally fronted by a flat-roofed Doric porch.
