Description
Court Place is an early 19th-century house located in West Monkton Village. The building is rendered over random rubble and features a slate roof with overhanging eaves. A 20th-century soffit board with a cornice has been added, and there are rendered stacks at the gable ends. The house has a double pile plan, set gable end onto the road, with a service wing at the rear that is now a separate dwelling and not included in this listing.
It stands two storeys high and has three bays, with 12-pane sash windows. There is a single-storey wooden trelliswork verandah with a glazed roof and asbestos slates, which continues over an extension at the east end, forming an entrance from the road. This entrance is set in a red sandstone random rubble wall that extends about 5 metres south. The entrance features segmental-headed panelled double doors in a brick bay, complemented by ashlar quoins, imposts, and a keystone, along with concrete coping.
