Description

Musgrave's Old Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been converted into a dwelling. It was refenestrated in the early 20th century and enlarged. The building is constructed of random rubble that has been whitewashed, with a wooden cornice and a clay tiled roof. There are stone stacks on the left gable end and to the left of the cross passage, along with a late 20th-century brick stack on the right gable end.

The layout consists of three cells and a cross passage, and the farmhouse is two storeys high with three bays. All window openings feature two and three-light wooden casements with glazing bars that form pointed heads, likely from the early 20th century. The ground floor has plain tiled two-light bays that project on wooden brackets in the end bays, and there are small two-light casements to the left of the entrance, which has a 20th-century plank door and a pentice hood porch supported by shaped brackets.

The right side of the building, which faces the road, has a three-storey section with scattered fenestration, and the first floor window has similar pointed heads in a flat-roofed extension on the right, while a late 20th-century window is present on the ground floor. The interior features steeply chamfered beams with step and run-out stops, and there are remnants of a lintel above the gable end fireplace on the left. The main architectural highlight of this typical three cells and cross passage farmhouse is the complete set of pointed arch casements that enhance the facade.
