Description

Hyde Bridge is a road bridge that spans the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal. It was built in 1827 and restored in the 20th century, designed by engineer James Hollinsworth. The bridge is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features saddle back coping. It has a single span and includes a tow path that retains Hall on the south side, along with cast iron fenders at the abutments on the south side. The canal was closed in 1911, and Hyde Bridge is part of a notable group of bridges that still exist along the canal.
