Description
This is a road bridge over the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal, built in 1827 by engineer James Hollinsworth. The bridge is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with concrete coping. The parapet has been renewed in the late 20th century, and some brickwork courses of the parapet and piers have been partly rebuilt. It features a single span and has a towpath retaining wall on the south side, although the fender to the abutment on the east front is missing. The canal was closed in 1911, and this bridge is part of a notable group of bridges that still exist along the canal.
