Description

Charlton Bridge is a bridge over the Bridgewater and Taunton Canal, built in 1827 by engineer James Hollingsworth. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with saddle back coping and features a single span. There is a retaining wall to the towpath on the south side. The canal was closed in 1911. This bridge is likely the best surviving example of a notable group of bridges along the canal.
