Description

Knapp Bridge is a road bridge over the River Tone, built around 1820. It is constructed from squared and coursed blue lias stone, with saddle back Ham stone coping and Ham stone voussoirs. The bridge features a single span with a semi-circular arch, a string course, end pilasters, and a hump-backed design. It closely resembles the bridges over the Taunton-Bridgwater canal, which were built around 1825 according to the designs of James Hollinsworth. The bridge is also depicted on the Greenwood map of Somerset, published in 1822.
