Description

No. 24 King Square is a house that likely dates back to the 17th century, featuring a later left-hand wing and a 19th-century service wing on the right, along with a large late 19th-century extension at the rear. The building is constructed of painted brick and has a pantile roof that is hipped to the left of the main block, which includes brick stacks. The late 19th-century rear extension is made of brick and has a ventilator under a hipped slate roof. The layout is double-depth with lower side wings; the right wing is single-storey, while the left has a forward-facing gabled wing with a gabled half dormer and a brick stack at the gable end. The main block is two storeys high and features a two-window range, with a truncated stack on the right and 6/6-pane sash windows set in forward frames at eaves level. A 20th-century glazed door is located under an 18th-century hood supported by carved brackets, flanked by 6/6-pane tripartite sash windows. The left wing contains a 20th-century door near the angle with a horizontal 20th-century window to the left; the dormer features a 20th-century two-light casement window. The right wing has a 19th-century three-light casement window. Inside, the left wing has a heavy chamfered cross-beam and an early 18th-century cupboard door.
