Description
6, 8 and 10 Clare Street are two houses that have been converted into a restaurant and shop. They were built in the early 19th century and feature painted Flemish-bond brick with wooden reveals and moulded architraves on the first floor. The roofs are made of pantiles and have brick stacks at the gable ends and party wall. Each house has a two-unit plan with rear outshuts and 20th-century rear extensions. The buildings are two storeys high and each has a symmetrical three-window range. The first-floor windows are 8/8-pane sashes set in moulded architraves. The ground floor includes a 20th-century restaurant on the left, which is part of No 10, and a 20th-century shop to the right, which is No 6. A pilaster with a moulded recessed panel separates the two houses. No 10 is attached to No 2 Angel Crescent, which is of the same date. The interior has not been inspected.
